Founder and Creative Director of the homonymous brand, Vincenzo Dascanio is known all over the world for his sets and installations – strong, dreamlike, creative – ever since, over 20 years ago, he arrived in Milan with the dream of spreading beauty around the world, first becoming the director of Armani Fiori and then the owner of his atelier in Piazza Missori.

Absolute visionary of the sector, Dascanio has signed some of the most anticipated parties of the season such as, recently, the wedding of Anna Castellini Baldissera with Leonardo Del Vecchio, in Saint-Tropez at the Château de la Messardiè, or the one in Capri at Villa Lysis of Beatrice Valli and Marco Fantini.

But his place of the heart for years has remained Lake Como where, between a party at Villa Erba and one at the Grand Hotel Tremezzo, he has always loved to return, to the point of having bought the beautiful Villa Bonomi where he organizes amazing events. And also here, in Cernobbio, he created his dream café, inaugurated in spring 2022.

Open in the central Via Regina, it is obviously an explosion of flowers and floral decorations. At the entrance of the garden, guests are welcomed by a cloud of red Dipladenias, a climber of tropical origin that envelops every table in the outdoor area, while the interior of the small café is characterized by hand-made paintings with floral elements, Vienna straw chairs and retro-style boiserie and brass details.

In fact, Dascanio was inspired by the aristocratic Italian bistros of the early 1900s, characterized by a delightfully Art Nouveau style and that timeless atmosphere perfect for a coffee with friends, a business meeting, or spending time as a flâneur by observing the people who take turns in the cafè and then continue with a walk along the lake.

Open from 9 to 22, it is perfect for breakfast, a light lunch or an aperitif to accompany, of course, the colorful macarons, small pastries and floral cakes in perfect VD Style.

The Secret

Built in the 1920s, Villa Bonomi was then sold in the 1950s to Cavaliere Antonio Ratti, entrepreneur and patron of the arts from Como, founder of the homonymous Foundation and promoter at the Metropolitan Museum of New York of a center for the conservation and restoration of the collections of textiles. He renovated the villa by entrusting the rearrangement of the beautiful garden to Pietro Porcinai, one of the most important landscape architects of the 1900s. Garden creator and great visionary for the time he lived, he represents a romantic example of historical dialectic with the current owner.
