A new lifestyle concept on one of the most spectacular lakes on the planet, the hotel consists of just 12 rooms, a fine dining restaurant, a cocktail bar and a swimming pool with wellness area and gym, already awarded in 2024 as “best Luxury Lakeside Hotel” in the world by the World Luxury Hotel Awards.

Just as in the past the Muses inspired great artists and poets, the new hotel has also been guided by a special woman, its “muse” who has, in turn, dedicated it to the great women who have made history in various fields, from culture to science.

English by origin, the entrepreneur Claire Gray, who has always been in love with Italy and Lake Como, 2020 fulfilled a dream by purchasing a small tavern nestled in a truly unique panoramic inlet right in front of the Isola Comacina.

The restoration and expansion works were entrusted to the architecture and interior design studio Claudia Kempen Concept which used the most precious materials, from marble to oak wood, and the relaxing colors that characterize the sunsets on the lake, giving life to a structure with an elegant timeless design.

To manage Musa, Claire called on two long-time friends, Robert Moretti and Matteo Corridori, chefs both born and raised on Lake Como, now Executive Director and Executive Chef of the structure, who here have developed their vision of international hospitality developed at the highest levels.

With the guidance of the Gray family, entrepreneurs for 37 years in the tourism sector, after almost 10 years abroad, the two chefs have combined the skills acquired in top kitchens around the world – from the 3 Michelin star Hélène Darroze at the Connaught in London to Niko Romito’s Bulgari Hotel in Dubai – with local tradition.

The ROTEO restaurant and Gaia Bar, both open to non-guests of the structure, offer an excellent cuisine where the “hand” or, better, the 4 hands of Robert and Matteo contaminate local products, such as lake fish, with haute cuisine techniques and a sophisticated British touch.

The mixology is artfully orchestrated by the bartender Luca Salvioli who animates the counter with ever-new cocktail lists designed to entertain guests with stories and suggestions from the world of the lake and its muses. Like the cocktail dedicated to Queen Elizabeth, based on her favorite ingredients, and served in a teacup (example subject to changes during the year).

Among the rooms, the Q. Elizabeth suite stands out with a wonderful private terrace overlooking the lake.

Breakfast, such a feast for the eyes, can be requested in the restaurant, in the terrace or in the Gaia Bar. In addition to a wide selection à la carte, it is also always also a delicious fresh bread with sourdough freshly baked by the chefs and accompanied with homemade jams and salted butter.

Musa’s services are completed by a lake-view swimming pool with solarium, a wellness area with spa, and a convenient private parking.

The Secret

The last owner of Isola Comacina, Giuseppe Caprani, left it as an inheritance to the King of Belgium who donated it to the Italian State which in turn ceded it to the Brera Academy of Milan. Every year, on the Sunday closest to June 24, the Sagra di San Giovanni is held with the spectacular reenactment of the fire of Isola Comacina, which occurred in 1169. The perfect date to book a stay in Musa well in advance.
