A paradise of taste and design that envelops the guest in the thousand shades of blue of Lake Garda and in the scents of the fruits, from lemons to olives, born in this rich and generous land.
In the center of Gargnano, a few steps from the small port, in what was an old stable restored retaining the beautiful stone walls, the Trattoria San Martino Le 3 Oche was born in 2008 from the dream of Andrea and Mariangela Cristofoletti, a past in the hotellerie sector, to create a place where you can taste lake fish in a charming environment.
And as if the beauty of the place wasn’t enough, the restaurant was stunningly designed by their son Alessio, interior designer, together with Giovanni Paneroni, architect, who have conceived environments where art and detail are the protagonists. From the choice of the blue of the walls, which changes color with the light of day just like the waters of the lake, to the use of wood from old local limonaie (lemon houses) for the wardrobes, up to the symbol of the place, the three geese, declined in artistic form in various materials, from Murano glass to wood up to iron, by local artists, like Angelo Colosio.
Everything in the restaurant is designed to express the best of the Garda area in every detail, from design to recipes
The design details are genius: such as the Lego flowers displayed on the tables instead of the traditional centerpieces, the iron led bars with magnets on which vintage objects are attached, such as the fine silver cutlery purchased in a Rome flea market, or the cool Seletti’s lamps.
The restaurant is accessed by a small vaulted stone gallery, boasting the typical charm of the alleys of small seaside towns, which ends with a small terrace overlooking the lake where it is simply a dream to eat in summer. In fact, the restaurant can also be reached directly by boat.
The cuisine, orchestrated by Mariangela with the chefs Dario Zeni and Enio Scalvini, is based on the best products of the surrounding area. Among the most popular dishes we find, in fact, the lake fish tartares and the spaghetti alla carbonara di lago with smoked tench, but also excellent dishes with meat and local specialties such as the lasagnette di malga with Tombea cheese, black truffle and red radicchio or the lemon dumplings with fresh ricotta from F.lli Bignotti. A special mention deserves the fritto non fritto dei Frans, a special dish based on fish supplied fresh every day by the “Frans”, one of the last, very famous, fishing families left on Lake Garda.
The wine list is also highly sought after, which favors local labels from small family-run wineries such as the white Lugana from Oselara in Pozzolengo, but also extraordinary reds such as the Gobbio from Noventa in Botticino Mattino, an original organic wine that is produced in marble quarries.
One of the most beautiful places on the Lombard shore of Lake Garda, the 3 Oche is definitely worth a trip.
The Garda oil used in the kitchen is produced by Andrea. The love for “his” olive groves led him to become also passionate about the art of carpentry, of which he has become a real master. Today he uses exclusively recycled olive wood for his creations, many of which you can see in the 3 Oche: from the bar counter made with trees that fell during the 1985 snowfall, to the tables, up to the placemats.
