LùBar (MI) — Lombardia Secrets

A splendid winter garden, located inside Villa Reale in Milan, houses the Sicilian-Milanese bistro born from the elegant cosmopolitan vision of the Bonaccorsi di Reburdone family.

The location would be enough to make you fall in love with this place: a splendid winter garden located inside the majestic Villa Reale, built between 1790 and 1796 for Count Ludovico Barbiano di Belgiojoso, which today houses the Modern Art Gallery of Milan. The fairytale atmosphere is also the fil rouge at the birth of this original eatery opened in 2017: the creators are, in fact, the brothers Lucrezia, Lucilla and Ludovico, three of the five children of the Milanese fashion designer Luisa Beccaria and of the Sicilian prince Lucio Bonaccorsi di Reburdone.

If the cuisine‘s inspiration is Sicilian-Milanese, the mood of the interior chosen for the restaurant represents the chic and cosmopolitan soul of the family: the tables are Moroccan, the bar counter is vintage and found in Berlin, while the ceramics of the mise en place are from Caltagirone.

A project born from the love of the Bonaccorsi brothers, coming from a noble family of Sicilian origin, for their native land.

The protagonists of the room are the large 18th-century windows, with a beautiful marble work of art placed in the center. Signed by the Danish neoclassic sculptor Bertel Thorvaldsen, one of Antonio Canova’s greatest rivals, it gives an original light to the environment. The space, very welcoming thanks to the green touch of the many exotic plants, transmits the feeling of being in a Flemish painting that each guest is called to photograph in order to fix memories over time.

LùBar, a concept originally born in Sicily from a Street Food project on an ape-car, was developed by the Bonaccorsi brothers with the aim of raising awareness of Sicilian food and wine, placing the emphasis on the quality of raw materials, with an original twist contemporary.
