From the Heart to the Hands: Dolce&Gabbana
A tribute to Italy that celebrates the unique creations of the two designers
In Milan, until July 31st at Palazzo Reale, the unmissable exhibition that presents, for the first time, the unique creations of Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana; a declaration of love to Italy and their greatest sources of inspiration.
Baroque and Sicily, Opera and Visconti’s Il Gattopardo, Byzantine mosaics and classical Greece. The exhibition will take you on an extraordinary journey into the minds of two of the world’s greatest stylists and through the artistic suggestions that have most influenced them.
A journey that tells the story of the creative process of their works and ideas, from the heart to their realization, by hand. With unique pieces from their Haute Couture, High Fashion and High Jewellery collections, each room displays Dolce&Gabbana’s bespoke creations against the backdrop of spectacular installations.
I believe that Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana are among the designers most inspired by Italian culture and art, and those who represent it most faithfully.
(Florence Müller, exhibition curator)
The archive and the new collections are presented in a succession of thematic sections that highlight the various aspects of Italian culture that have always inspired the work of Dolce&Gabbana – including art, architecture, craftsmanship, cities and their regional topography, music, Opera and Ballet, popular traditions, theater and the Dolce Vita.
Dolce&Gabbana have collaborated with many artisans to create this exhibition, ideally crossing Italy from North to South, uniting it under the value of Beauty.
The exhibition also features Anh Duong, a model, actress and painter who has always been a muse for designers.
The paintings, exhibited for the first time at Palazzo Reale and embellished with antique archive frames from the Galleria Cappelletti, were created by Duong between 2012 and 2024 and depict the artist dressed in emblematic clothes of the fashion house, as well as portraits of Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana.
To further enrich the visitor experience, every Thursday and Friday from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM, the spaces are animated by dressmakers coming directly from the Dolce&Gabbana atelier, to offer an authentic and dynamic vision of the creative process in progress.
An exhibition absolutely worth seeing, grateful to Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana for having created so much beauty and for having contributed to “saving” just as much thanks to the support given to the many artisans and artists with whom they have collaborated since the early 80s, when their company was founded.
The Secret
The Haute Couture and Haute Joaillerie garments and accessories are accompanied by beautiful handcrafted artefacts. Like an authentic Sicilian procession cart built on display by three master craftsmen, Salvatore Sapienza, the Bevilacqua brothers and Gianfranco Fiore, or the glass mirrors and silver dresses that respond to the famous workshops of the master glassmakers Barbini and the skilled chandelier artisans Barovier&Toso from Murano.
